Be A Champion

Be A Champion

Congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks and their recent win of the greatest achievement in professional football: The Super Bowl. One can only imagine the time and dedication it takes to reach such a high achievement. I can only guess the list of what it takes. I imagine it looks something like this:

  1. Showing up for practice. I imagine this is a critical component to getting the best results when playing the game of football. Never miss a practice. Of course emergencies sometimes happen causing a missed practice, but even in those cases, I imagine the player likely makes up that practice with another one in a quick fashion so that they can keep up with the momentum of the team.
  2. Doing the exercise. Exercise keeps them fit and healthy and, even more importantly, safe. Likely they are doing exercises above and beyond just the workout they receive when they are at their practices. They know it requires more than the norm to be the best.
  3. Paying the price. I imagine there is a financially and physically painful price to pay to push oneself from being average to extraordinary. That cost can be in equipment, time, and the soreness that comes from the exertion of change.
  4. Working well with teammates. In any sport, there are relationships involved, even if it’s merely between you and your coach. The players that excel the most don’t usually do it on their own. It’s important to communicate and work with respect and honesty.
  5. Being committed. Even if the outcome is not making it to the big game. This is essential. There are sometimes many factors that are outside of their control, but if they contribute all of the aforementioned traits, then they’ll likely have the best opportunity to see the best results.

There is something to be said about what it takes to see the best results possible. Imagine if you approach your chiropractic care with the same fervor. It might look like this:

  1. Showing up for your scheduled visits. It’s a critical part of your plan. Emergencies happen that will try to disrupt that, but you can still be seeing success as long as you make up those missed appointments as soon as possible.  This helps you to not lose momentum so you can see the best results possible.
  2. Do your exercises at home. Many of you will be taught exercises during your course of treatment. You doing the work at home beyond just making your visits will help you see the best results possible.
  3. Pay the price. If you truly value how this care will change your life for the better, don’t be afraid to pay the cost of the adjustments and/or the equipment or supplements that will likely help you see the best health ever.
  4. Work well with your office. This includes all members of your chiropractic office. Treat with respect and honesty the doctors and all members of their team. If you start to treat some better and more worthy than others, it affects your relationship with the entire team.
  5. Stay committed to the plan of care you chose. Even if the outcome isn’t 100% restoration to as near normal as possible. This is also essential. Sometimes there are factors and stresses out of your control, but if you apply all of the above traits, then it is likely to have the greatest impact on your health.

Actually it’s not that it should look that this, it does look like this. Do what it takes and you too get to raise your arms in the air and leap for joy, because all the work paid off and your life is better for it. You are the champion.
