Can You Do It Now?

Can You Do It Now?

There are activities that you have enjoyed in your youth that, as your body gets "older," you start to shy away from.

Actually, let's be honest. By "older," we're really talking about a body that isn't working as well as it once did, and that can happen at any age. However if you really analyze the process of a body not working well, it's really talking about joints that have stopped working as well as they should. When that happens all sorts of problems follow: you lose range of motion, your energy starts to wane, you start to lose time in your day, you start watching life pass you by instead of participating in it. You start feeling older than you should, remembering the days of good health.

But it doesn't have to be this way. Another option happens every day in chiropractic offices: the beauty of people and their joints getting the care that they deserve. When this happens life gets turned back on. Those beautiful, necessary nerves that depend on healthy joint motion and alignment start to spark again. People often smile and comment that it feels like they can breath again, that they feel more relaxed, like they are in control of their lives again.

Even just the other day, a patient sought us for care of a severely herniated disc which ultimately did require surgery. He took his care seriously and even after surgery knew that the surgery didn’t “fix” the underlying problem that caused the herniation in the first place. It “patched” him up and then he came right back to chiropractic to give his body, alignment and motion a chance to heal as well as possible.

That surgery was well over a year ago.

Since then, there have been “flare-ups” and recoveries through his chiropractic care. Exciting to report is that the patient rarely has low back pain now and shared that he has even taken up swimming again, which was one of the activities that he enjoyed in his “youth.” Not only has he gotten back to swimming, but he shared with child-like enthusiasm that he was able to swim a quarter of a mile (nine laps, back and forth in the pool) in six minutes!

Nothing brings more joy to a chiropractor than when a patient's efforts toward their own health results in them finding that “child-like enthusiasm” for life and essentially getting “younger.”

Tend to your joints through your chiropractic care. For some of you, this may be a reminder to call and schedule for your chiropractic adjustment. Take advantage of the moment and make the call... to take care of yourself.
