Manufacturing 101

Home

Recently I had the distinct privilege of participating in one of our local “Principal For A Day” programs. Which essentially meant that I spent an entire day at one of our local high schools meeting the administration and walking through different classrooms meeting teachers and students alike. Getting an inside look at what’s going on in our school systems.

One of the classrooms was as class on manufacturing. The classroom was decked out in 3D printers, computers, rulers, posters of bridges, geodesic domes, and skyscrapers. And on a white board near one corner of the room was written what appeared to be the basics of manufacturing anything. Frame. Function. Then Aesthetics. And in that specific order.

Let’s discuss this in regards to your health.

  1. This would mean that frame should be of paramount concern first. This would involve your spine and your joints and how they relate to your posture. Are you making sure that this area of your health is actively being taken care of? Most people entirely take their spine and posture for granted until it is hurting and then they feel it’s the time to address it. Surprisingly only a small population get that their chiropractor care should be an always active part of their plan for health.
  2. Next would be function. There are many people trying to address this section first through activities like exercise or yoga. I would never want to discourage anyone from these kind of activities, but it has it’s greatest effectiveness if one’s structure is addressed and healthy first. In many ways people will invest in medications that force their body to function better when it’s not. Relying on this is not healthy.
  3. Aesthetics. This is being concerned with beauty or the appreciation of beauty. This is an area, because we all can see it, that most people spend most of their health dollars throughout most of their life. Showering and bathing. Conditioners. Moisturizers. Hairspray. Soaps. Lotions. Makeup. The result makes for a beautiful exterior, giving the impression of a healthy appearance, but there are many people that can share with you that they make look healthy, but they know that they aren’t healthy.

So here is a question for you. If in the area of building anything. Be it a bridge, building, skyscraper, car, or otherwise, don’t you think it would be important for you to stay focused in the same order as people who manufacture have done for centuries? This is your body. You get to make the choice.

Do you want to merely look healthy and functional, or do you want to be healthy and functional?
