A 55’ Chevy truck is the dream that the wife has had for years. The husband was taught about fabrication as a child from his father and has grown up understanding the intricacies of custom car design. They have had the body of this rig in one of their garages for years and it is the time to get started on the “project.” The plan is to lower the body to the ground and put a 80’s corvette engine under the hood. Then give it a beautiful blue paint job.
Where he’s at in the project now is tending to what he calls the most important part. The frame. The conversation was intriguing. He shared that the engine, tires, suspension…pretty much everything else putting the car together is the easy part compared to the frame. He showed me a whiteboard that had what looked to be math equations and measurements. I asked him to explain further.
He said that he could put the best of everything into this truck but if the frame isn’t just perfect than the truck won’t perform right. He had to put most of his time into making sure the frame was just right. If the frame wasn’t perfect, at best it would work for a short time before dying an early life because the underlying frame would mess the function of every other part.
I asked a question to clarify, “So are you telling me that the most important part of this truck when all is said done is something that most people will never see?” He nodded his head in agreement. Interesting.
As a chiropractor I don’t have to look far to see the adage, structure determines function. Chiropractor have been saying this for years. If you’re spine is broken or wearing down, I have two questions for you. Do you know how healthy your frame/spine is? Are you doing anything to take care of it?
I’m constantly amazed at how much attention we give to what it seen and how much neglect we give to what is unseen. People will wash their hair and primp and beautify. They will color their nails or get into stylish clothing. Yet all the while put unhealthy food choices into their bodies, take their joints for granted, or assume that it counts as sufficient exercise if they go to work that day. Do you see the potential problem here?
It might do well for all of you to go back to the whiteboard and write out a plan to get the most out of your health/life. Am I telling you that the most important part of your health and life when all is said and done it likely something most people will never see?
