Who’s Calling The Shots?

Who’s Calling The Shots?

You arrived at your chiropractor’s office. You have had a chance to have an evaluation and some x-rays. Then you had the unique opportunity to sit with your chiropractor as he explains more than just the pain, but the actual problem that is underlying the pain and then presents options. The options that you have usually reside within two models. Do you want temporary relief, or do want to attempt to return to as near normal as possible. The choice is now yours…or is it?

As a chiropractor, I have only seen countless amount of people like yourself get to the point where you deciding what to do regarding your health. What follows next is an interesting evolution in the thought process, because all of a sudden it’s like someone else entirely steps into the room.

Your insurance company.

This still small voice of financial decisions steps into the room and sits on your shoulder and whispers words like…

“You haven’t even met your deductible yet, what are you thinking?”

“You only get so many visits per year. You better not get anything more than that?”

“You’ve exhausted your chiropractic benefits. You may have to wait until next year.”

That voice tells you that insurance is entirely about saving money when actually no one saves money when a poorly functioning spine keeps you from working at your best. And that keeps you from spending time with your loved ones. Keeps you from keeping your home and property in good order. Or even keeps you from doing the recreational hobbies that bring you joy. Unfortunately your insurance company doesn’t take into account how your spine not having healthy motion or healthy alignment can impact your life in so many ways. There is more at stake than merely saving money. This is about your life and there is no way for your insurance company can anticipate how your life is affected by your current injury.

When you make a decision as important as one regarding your health, it’s okay to entertain listening to the still small voice whispering in your ear, but for the sake of your health and your life, all the activities and people that are important to you, don’t let it have the final say in what’s in your best interest.

You call that shot…
