Hero, as defined by the dictionary, is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities: a war hero. My challenge for you this week is to contemplate being that hero in someone’s life, but to do so will require some intentional work on your behalf.
You have been following through with your chiropractic care and it has made a difference. You get the benefits of feeling younger, moving better, being healthier, because your spine and joints are being well adjusted by your chiropractor. To play the part of a hero first requires that you notice other people around you. Pay attention to your family, friends, and co-workers. Are they unhealthy? Are they hurting? Are they not working right? If you think real hard, do you just know that if they got some chiropractic care, that they would be better because of it?
Courage. That is the first characteristic in the definition that a hero is recognized for. That means you have to be willing to walk up to that person and ask them something like…
“If it were possible to be feeling (moving or functioning) better, would you be interested?”
If they even remotely are wondering what you are selling or pushing, my recommendation is to drop it right then and there. Because you will never be able to be a hero to someone suffering, if they don’t have a desire to be saved. It’s a harsh reality, but some people need to suffer more before they are willing to do anything.
If however they see some outstanding achievements that you have made in your health over the past several days, weeks, months, or years, they very well might be receptive to hearing any recommendations that you have to give them, for no other reason than you care.
And when you care enough to share about the powerful impact that chiropractic has made in your life with someone that you see could be helped as well then what you have is a noble quality.
Before you know it, you have rounded out having the defining characteristics of becoming a hero in someone’s life. Don’t be afraid to walk with them through the steps. If necessary, invite them to a health talk your chiropractor is giving. Help them schedule their first visit. Maybe even go with them on their first visit and introduce them to your chiropractor personally. And then periodically check back with them and see how they are doing…
Now who would want to pass up having that kind of impact in someone else’s life?
