Closing Ceremonies

Closing Ceremonies

It always seems to happen so fast. The Olympics start and just two weeks later they are coming to a close.  All that’s left are memories of upsets and triumphs as we await the final signal depicting the close of the games: the torch that was lit for two weeks straight is extinguished.

During those two weeks, we have the opportunity to watch humans defy imagination and perform at the highest summit we can aspire to reach as humans. The athletes’ balance, precision, strength, speed, and accuracy are measured to the thousandth of a second, and in many cases, the judging is watched with eagle-like intensity.

What I daresay we witness is human discipline playing itself out on the highest stage. Passion persevering through inhuman toil and practice. Love for sport and country exhibited to the highest degree.

What does it take? Every moment of the every day. They exercise. They practice. They sweat. They bleed. They do this all so that they can have the best chance to hear their anthem play with a metal ‘round their neck at the end of the day.

A few years ago at a chiropractic seminar, we had the opportunity to listen to a speaker on the subject of concussions. Not potentially the most exciting of topics, and the scattered few chiropractors in the room before the speaker began showed it. Little did we know that we were in for a treat. The speaker was none other than Dr. William Moreau, a chiropractor based out of Colorado who happened to be the managing doctor of sports medicine for the U.S. Olympic Committee. During the seminar he shared that even while the rest of the world is struggling to see the benefit of a chiropractor being in charge of the health of Olympic athletes, for our U.S. athletes, there is no mystery.

When Olympic athletes have problems, rarely do they need the services of a medical doctor. They require someone of a profession that understands biomechanical correction like no other.  Some form of interference is inhibiting them from performing at their peak.  They need, and are asking for, a chiropractor.

So for those of you who get regular chiropractic care, know that you are participating in taking care of yourself in the same way your represented U.S. Olympians are taking care of themselves.

And for those of you that aren’t taking care of your spinal health, why aren’t you? You couldn’t possibly think that you’re saving time or money by taking your joints for granted. If you really want to make sure that your body is functioning at its very best, getting the most out of your life, call your chiropractor, call your friend’s chiropractor, and get on it.

After all, if chiropractic care is good enough for our nation’s best…

…you are deserving as well.
