“My experience started with an emergency appointment with Dr. Martin after falling from a ladder. I have had occasion to utilize the Country Chiropractic Clinic services since, in about 1998 and again from about October 2007 and continuing to this date.
The pain in my lower back and a stiff neck were to the point I would hardly get out of bed. I had other symptoms that proved to be related. My left shoulder ached, sharp pain radiated down the backside of my left arm, my left leg would collapse without warning while I was standing. It had taken a long tome to get in this condition and it was going to take a long time to correct it. We agreed on a six month series of three times a week treatments at Country Chiropractic Clinic, a later reduced to twice a week.

The pain in my left shoulder and the morning back aches disappeared after the second treatment. The collapsing left leg became less frequent. I can now sleep on my right side for the first time in many years. The remaining treatments were to gently coax my head and neck back to an upright position. Tilting my head back too far caused the sharp pain down the backside of my left arm. This became lesser and lesser as the range of motion tilting my head back increased. I can now tilt my head back and look up at the ceiling without pain. I am an avid sailor so being able to look up at the trim of my sails means I am once more back in contention as the boat to beat in the racing season. I am now on an every two week maintenance schedule so as not to lose what we have gained.
What if I had not gone to a Chiropractor?
I had been writhing in agony on the floor waiting for the ambulance. I took muscle relaxers. The medics gave me muscle relaxers. The hospital injected muscle relaxers. I woke up in the middle of the night not breathing from all the muscle relaxers. It took all my will power and strength to take just one more breath at a time waiting for the night nurse to come in and see my distress.
She came in twice, showed her flashlight around and everyone was dying peacefully. Couldn’t move or had the breath to call out. My condition deteriorated until I became paralyzed with my back black and blue from the muscle spasms. The orthopedic surgeon was waiting for the convulsions to subside before deciding what to do. The neurosurgeon was offering me the choice of having my back fused in a sitting or standing position.
Now, I am completely recovered and with this latest incident it turned out to be my neck and not my back that was the problem. My view is that Medical Doctors treat symptoms. Chiropractors FIX things.
P.S. Just celebrated my ninetieth birthday!”
